Assassins Creed III - what we know

As many of you may know, Assassins Creed III is due to hit our shelves this October, and for the average AC fan, it may seem like quite an exciting time. Whilst there hasn't been much info on the game, I'm here to tell you what I've discovered so far.

First thing to tell you is that AC III is going to be bigger than all of the previous games. A lot of people complained that the previous AC games didn't last as long as they would have liked and so Ubisoft have done what the players wanted. They say the story will be bigger and better with more quests and added features.

The question you may be asking is where is the game set? It has been confirmed that AC III will be set during the American Revolution and that it will focus on the Assassin trying to prevent the end of the world in 2012 - hence it's being released before the apparent date of the 'apocalypse'. It was to be expected that there would be 2012 games this year, considering the date is fast approaching. However, I don't know if this is going to work out with AC, it's always seemed like a sword and fist game to me. There will still be swords by the looks of things, but the game will be gun dominated. Oh, and you can say goodbye to Altair and Ezio, there's a new assassin in town and he has powerful friends, namely George Washington. A new era, a new protagonist and a whole new gameplay. AC III is set to sell fast this year.

As you can see, Ubisoft have been pretty hushed about this one. However, whether the game is going to be good or not has yet to be decided.

What's the name of this mysterious new assassins? Who is he? These questions have not yet been answered and when they are we'll let you know. Assassins Creed III, will you be pre-ordering/buying it?

Marvel Attack!

It's a cold and blustery Tuesday in early December. On days like this there's nothing better than sitting down in a comfy chair and watching a good film or flicking through and interesting novel. Curled up in front of the fire, something hot to drink in your hand, it's hard to resist. Or, you could be like Titus and I - cold and slumped in front of the computers typing.

So, on this bitter and icy night, we figure that you might be looking for something good to watch or maybe something to skim over absent-mindedly - that's why we've brought you this post. Here, you will find a little review on Thor and some exciting news regarding Marvel comics that might just get you running over to that comic collection you have hidden under your bed.


Thor

Selfish, young, reckless and disrespectful are only some of the words that could be used to describe the young Thunder god, Thor. Son of Odin, king of the gods, it is Thor's destiny to one day take his place. However, during the ceremony that would name Thor King, three Frost Giants (the age old enemy of the gods) slip into Asgard and attempt to steal an artefact that once belonged to them, interrupting the ceremony meaning that Thor does not become King. Enraged by the fact that Frost Giants would dare to attack Asgard, Thor swears to destroy them, much to his father's annoyance. Blinded by vanity and selfish desire, Thor takes his friends to the home of the Frost Giants and nearly gets them all killed. Heartbroken and angry, Odin banishes his son to the mortal realm where he will be forced to suffer. As Thor falls into the mortal realm known as Midgard (Earth), Odin places a spell on Thor's hammer before throwing it after his son.

You can keep pulling that hammer. Yes...yes you can...

Thor is alone on Earth and no one believes he is the god of Thunder. However, he is quick to find some new companions that will aid him on his quest, even if they aren't so sure about his sanity. In order for Thor's hammer to return to him and for him to be able to return home he must learn to put others before himself and rid himself of his reckless, vain and selfish qualities.

 Little does Thor know that whilst he struggles with himself on Earth, his brother, Loki, is planning on taking over all of Asgard so that he may become King of the Gods. It's up to Thor, with the help of is new found mortal friends as well as his old companions, to stop his brother before it's too late and the nine worlds are put out of order forever. Not only this, but Loki has a few secrets of his own...

Power will be mine!

Of course, the comic and the film differ in various areas - most notably that Thor does not take on the alias of Donald Blake (although the character is mentioned a few times in the film). However, the character of Thor in the comic and the one in the film are pretty similar in the case of actions and reaction. The only thing that differs massively is the language, but that's a minor point.

I don't want to ruin the film for you, so I won't give anymore of the plot away. Persoanlly, I give this film a 10/10 for acting, fun, light heartedness, great story and decent effects.


Before we jump over to Titus' exciting news, a quick question...do you agree with this interpretation of Nick Fury? This is the Nick Fury that has been used in the recent Marvel films and will be used in the Avengers next year compared with the original Fury. What do you guys think?

Comic mania...

The date of the Avengers is getting sooner every day and they have now released information that there will be a new comic beginning in April, ‘Avengers vs X-men’. The biggest names in Marvel have been brought together to create this thing of awesomeness, throwing them in the ring together to see which will come out on top.

Obviously the main point of this post is Thor but I couldn’t resist revealing this exciting news and seeing the response for it. I don’t know about you but I’m totally stuck for a side to back, on the one hand there is Wolverine, Storm, Professor X, Cyclopes and the others, whilst on the other there is Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man and so much more. It’s like pitting the gods against one another and saying, 'so do you back Athene or do you back Ares?' (Well, it is for me anyway.)

This comic will be running fortnightly and is written by 5 of the top Marvel writers; Matt Fraction, Jonathan Hickman, Ed Brubaker, Brian Michael Bendis and Jason Aaron.

It’s one of those questions that so many people want to know the answer to: who would win? And so many people have predetermined what side they are on. There is only one way to find out how it really happens.

X-men movie

Hey there ladies and gentlemen (mostly gentlemen).

Tonight me and Valhalla (I think I’m going to start shortening it to Val., despite his many protests, let me know what you think) wanted to do a post on all the fantastic Marvel movies that have been coming out lately as the latest one will be here soon. Who here is excited about ‘The Avengers’? I think me and Val. are both extremely excited. I was upset when ‘Captain America’ came out as Val. had promised to come and watch it with me but every time we planned it he cancelled on me (all his excuses were valid and forgivable….:( but it also means I haven’t been able to see it yet). It came out recently on DVD and as soon as I am able to get to town that will be the first thing I buy.

Tonight, Val. supposedly left me his part of the post in our blog email account drafts box but I’ve been through the whole thing and it’s empty and I left my laptop at college so tonight’s post is a bit late again (you’re probably thinking, ‘so how is he sending us this?’ well, my smart muffins, I managed to convince my reluctant mother that it would be a good idea to let me use her desktop (which incidentally is better than my laptop) for a short period of time, and this is all I have time to supply at this hour as she was adamant that I get to bed as soon as I can for college tomorrow and the rescue of my laptop, she seems to have forgotten that I am, in fact, 18).

I thought that I would be cool to at least do a brief review on my favourite Marvel movie so far.

To date, my favourite has been X-men. Yeah I know, not exactly similar to the comics (they could at least have made the costumes SIMILAR, poor Wolverine, missing out on his yellow and blue and getting instead a plain blue x-men, rubber, one-piece).

Despite it’s dissimilarities to the original I would like to examine the movie as something separate to any comic.

I am a HUGE fan of X-men and regardless of the movies lack of respect I thought it was a pretty amazing movie.

I thought the actors were impressive, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine was pretty darn cool, James Marsden as Cyclops (If I was gay James would be my man crush), loved it. I loved Halle Berry as Storm, she was pretty awesome and of course totally hot in her cat-suit, even Professor X was awesome, Patrick Stewart was perfect. Enough about the actors.

I thought the school was well done, the filming, the acting…let’s just say that I have watched that movie more times than I can count on my hands and probably toes together.

I will have to leave you with this brief post tonight as I am falling asleep at my desk and I have a performance tomorrow night so I must be awake.
